For Paraeducators: Enroll in Intervener Training for Fall

Take the first course in our Intervener Training: Deafblind Education online certificate. This two-class program is designed for paraeducators who support learners who are deafblind.

SPED 9100: Overview of Deafblindness and the Role of the Intervener

  • Fall 2025: August 25 to December 18
  • Enrollment opens July 15

In this course, you’ll learn the basics of deafblindness and the intervener’s role in educational settings. Topics include instructional strategies, sensory systems, communication methods and how to support active engagement. You’ll also explore how to build trusting relationships and foster a positive self-image in learners.

This training is based on the Open Hands, Open Access Deafblind Intervener Learning Modules and aligns with national standards for special education paraeducators.
