Web Design Intensive Certificate
The Certificate includes all three modules below.
Weekend 1 - Fundamentals of Web Design & Development
The technology, terminology and hardware of web publishing will be demystified. An overview of web production workflow and the steps of Planning, Prototyping, Design, Development, Testing, Deployment, and Maintenance will be presented.
The class will use Dreamweaver CSS starter pages, and then work with Fireworks to create some visual elements that will be brought into the site in the next class. Key web design best practices will be covered for CSS-based design.
Weekend 2 - Designing Websites with Dreamweaver
This module will review the structure and tags associated with HTML, and the complexities of CSS in determining page layouts. Working with a blank page, new code will be created using HTML to demonstrate how it works and then styled with basic CSS. The basics of configuring a site in Dreamweaver for a FTP connection will be covered.
NOTE: The class will NOT be doing full designs in Photoshop and Fireworks and bringing them into Dreamweaver. Instead, a component and iterative approach will be used where the site will be broken into individual modules and then created.
Weekend 3 - Basics of Interactive Design with Flash
This lecture/hands-on session will cover the basics of Flash CS4 Professional. The class will orient you to the Flash interface, and the various tools that are part of the application. Then you will work on adding animation, maintenance features and deploying the site as well as encoding and placing a video file in the site using Dreamweaver and the Ajax Flash Video Component.
Using Dreamweaver, sections of the site will be edited for client editing using the InContext Editing service. And finally, the site will be published, tested, and then configured for the InContext Editing service.
All classes are held in a Mac computer lab (all topics and software are cross-platform).
Instructor Doug Winnie is the Group Product Manager for Designer and Developer Workflows at Adobe Systems.
