Earn Transferable University and College Credit (3 units) Online

 

These courses will allow learners to view the documentary series and related video of some of the nation’s foremost leaders on the social determinants of health, such as Nancy Kreiger, David Williams, Richard Hofrichter, and Anthony Iton. You will be guided through important readings, and the instructors will support you in learning about community campaigns and organizations that are successfully working to improve social determinants of health. Students will dialog with others from around the nation in an online community.

 

HED 221 is a lower division course (first and second year). At the statewide level, this course satisfies Segment II graduation requirements in the Cal State University system. Locally, the course is fully articulated with Hlth 221 at City College of San Francisco. HED 221 also satisfies electives for the BS in the Department of Health Education at SF State.

 

HED 640 is an upper division course (third and fourth year). Many graduate programs may also accept these credits—rules vary, check with your graduate program in advance.

HED 221 Health and Social Justice (3 units)

  • Satisfies graduation requirement for Segment II in Cal State University system.
  • Satisfies electives for BS in Department of Health Education.

 

HED 640 Structural Inequities and Public Health (3 units)

  • Satisfies graduation requirement for Segment III in Cal State University system.
  • Note: Some graduate programs may accept this course as an elective. Check with your department or program.

 

Register at SF State as usual.

 

 

City College of San Francisco Students

 

HLTH 221 Section 893 (3 units)

  • Satisfies general education requirements to transfer to CSU in Area D7, Social and Behavioral Sciences.
  • Satisfies graduation requirement for Associate's Degree in Area G1.
  • Counts toward the major in Health Education and Community Health Studies.
  • Satisfies electives for CHW Certificate.
  • Hlth 221 is articulated with HED 221 at SF State, so it satisfies Segment II CSU graduation requirement and electives for the BS in Health Education at SF State.

 

Register at CCSF as usual.

 

General Public

  • For transferrable credit or for personal/professional enrichment.
  • Tuition is $220 per unit ($660 per class).
  • Note: For teachers or community college instructors who wish to use course work for column progression, you will need to check with your Human Resources office to see if lower division or upper division is specified—rules vary.
