Short-Term Study Abroad

Destinations

SF State Extended Learning will offer the following summer programs. These programs offer students the opportunity to immerse themselves in aspects of another culture—the language, literature, history, art, and archaeology, as well as have the experience of living and traveling abroad. These programs are distinguished by offering both the pure delight of travel and the joy of learning in order to achieve that special understanding of the destinations you visit.

Summer 2010

French Language, Culture, & Civilization (4 units)
French Conversation & Culture (2 units)
Paris, France, July 1-31, 2010

A month of studies living in the heart of Paris can be yours this summer through our Summer Study in Paris program. While staying with a family or living near the Odeon in a comfortable dorm with private bath, spend this July growing your Parisian roots, taking a civilization course with the City of Light as your textbook, and improving your French-all while you earn credit. We plan a three-day weekend in Brittany with visits to Mont-St-Michel, Normandy and D-Day museums and charming Breton villages plus daytrips to Versailles, Rouen, Monet’s home at Giverny and Fontainebleau. In Paris, activities range from theater and opera to guided visits to the Louvre and the Musée d’Orsay.

Two study options are offered: a full French language (4 units) and Civilization course, or a Civilization course and survival French language course (2 units).
