2015 Summer Institute:
Under the Umbrella - Trans* Sexualities, Health, and Rights

This year's theme was selected both because of the timeliness of trans issues, and because of the overwhelming response from previous participants in support of more trans specific programming. This year's program content will focus transgender and gender variant identity development, transgender health (including discussion of mental health, physical transition, and HIV), and on domestic and international transgender civil rights issues (including discussion of the experience of incarcerated transgender populations, the passing and enforcement of various trans non-discrimination laws, and education of policymakers, service providers, city officials, and employers on implementation of trans* inclusive policies).
The Summer Institute on Sexuality is open to undergraduates, graduates, and professionals in the field who want to expand their knowledge and practice around sexuality and gender. Participants have a wide range of backgrounds, interests, and areas of expertise, and come together to create an amazing educational community for the duration of the institute and beyond.
