Before You Register
Students who have registered at SF State since 1986 as a regular SF State student or as a College of Extended Learning student, are cleared to register using CEL TouchTone. Students with a financial hold at SF State are not eligible for CEL TouchTone. All debts must be paid prior to CEL TouchTone registration. Contact the SF State Cashier's Office at 415.338.1281 for instructions.
Students who have never registered at SF State (or did so prior to 1986), can still use CEL TouchTone by filling out a CEL TouchTone set-up form (PDF) and following one of these options:
- Call 415.405.7700 during business hours, and ask a CEL staff member to set up your base record.
or
- Mail your CEL TouchTone set-up form to:
SF State Extended Learning
1600 Holloway Avenue
San Francisco, CA 94132-4160
CEL TouchTone set-up forms must be received by noon on April 14 to ensure CEL TouchTone on the first day of registration, April 21.
Students should be aware of registration, add/drop, withdrawal and refund deadlines that can affect academic status and cost money. For complete policy details, see the "Information & Policies" section, Open University policies, and the Calendar & Deadlines section.
First Class Meeting Registration
If you plan to enroll at the first class meeting, please check this site or call the College of Extended Learning at 415.405.7700 the working day before the class begins to check on schedule changes and space availability. After obtaining the instructor's signature, you must submit completed registration form and payment by check, money order, or cashier's check (no cash) to the college's SF State campus or Downtown Campus office.
Payment Due Date
Fees are payable as soon as students are registered. If payment is not received by the end of the day on the payment due date, students are automatically dropped for non-payment. Payment due dates are calculated by adding five business days (excluding weekends and holidays), to the date of registration with the following exceptions:
- If registration takes place within five business days of the beginning of a course, fees are due the business day before a course begins.
- If a student registers for multiple courses with different due dates, total fees must be paid by the earliest due date.
