Financial Aid
The College of Extended Learning receives no state money to support its programs; therefore, financial aid is extremely limited. Financial aid, if granted, is only available to students who are admitted to academic certificate programs, enrolled in at least six units per semester. For further information, please contact the appropriate Financial Aid advisor at the SF State Financial Aid Office. (See also Understanding Financial Aid Information on MySFSU.)

To avoid being dropped for non-payment, students should confirm financial aid approval prior to registration. Payments are automatically deferred for students who are oficially approved by SF State Financial Aid. Course fees are automatically deducted from a student's financial aid disbursement.
Dropping Courses
Students wishing to drop courses must do so either in-person at CEL or over the phone by calling 415.405.7700. The SF State Financial Aid Office cannot drop students from courses.
Failure to drop a course by the deadline will result in a financial obligation to the university and possibly an 'F' or a 'WU' on the students transcript. All transactions must be initiated by the student within deadlines Calendar & Deadlines.
