When you complete either 210 course, you can take the Digidesign Pro Tools Certified OPERATOR EXAM.

When you complete either 310 course, you can take the Digidesign Pro Tools Certified EXPERT EXAM.

Pro Tools is the industry standard for professional audio production. Pro Tools 201 focuses on a foundation of skills required to competently operate a Pro Tools TDM system in a professional music or post-production environment. If you would like to become a Certified Operator or Expert, we are now offering 201, 210, and 310 courses, which qualify you to take the Pro Tools exam. Take Pro Tools 210P for an emphasis in film/video audio post production - or - take 210M for an emphasis in music audio. (Or take them all!)

Pro Tools 101 & 110 are offered in the fall semester in the Digital Media Production program. Alternately, Pro Tools 101 can be taken through our Music/Recording Industry program.

200 and 300 level Pro Tools classes are offered through Digital Media Production's industry partner locations.

Classes Offered:

DM 350 Pro Tools 101 (1 unit) $449

Pro Tools 101 focuses on the foundational skills needed to learn and function within the Pro Tools environment at a basic level. The goal of this course is to help individuals start working on their own projects in Pro Tools.

DM 355 Pro Tools 110 (2 units) $695

This course covers Pro Tools software for those who've taken Pro Tools 101 or have a basic exposure to Pro Tools LE. This course focuses on working with Audio Files: Importing, Compressing, Editing, and Mixing within the Pro Tools environment.

DM 450 Pro Tools 201 (2 units) $1095

Pro Tools software is the ubiquitous industry standard for audio production. Pro Tools 201 focuses on a foundation of skills needed to competently operate a Pro Tools TDM system in a professional environment.

DM 460 Pro Tools 210P (2 units) $1100

Prerequisite: DM 450. Pro Tools 210P focuses on completing 200-level training with a post-production focus. Concepts and skills learned in 201 are reinforced with post-specific examples. DM 462 can be taken as an alternative or in addition to this course.

DM 462 Pro Tools 210M (2 units) $1100

Prerequisite: DM 450. Pro Tools 210M focuses on completing 200-level training as a music-recording technician. Concepts and skills learned in 201 are reinforced with this emphasis. This course can be taken as an alternative, or in addition to, DM 460.

DM 490 Pro Tools 310P (2 units)

Prerequisite: DM 460. Pro Tools 310P focuses on the advanced operation of Pro Tools TDM systems for post production, stressing speed, efficiency, and flexibility. Film and TV production examples are featured in exercises preparing individuals to efficiently manage deadline-driven, TDM-based Pro Tools operations. DM 492 can be taken as an alternative or in addition to this course.

DM 492 Pro Tools 310M (2 units)

Prerequisite: DM 462. Pro Tools 310M focuses on the advanced operation of Pro Tools TDM systems as a music-recording technician. This course is replete with audio and MIDI production examples commonly found in real-world Pro Tools projects. This course can be taken as an alternative or in addition to DM 490.
