OLLI Community:
Creative Work Gallery Archive
Creative Work Gallery features the work developed by members in one of OLLI's Artmaking and Storytelling Courses over the past year:
Personal Essays & Poetry
Powerful, poignant, these member submissions are small and tall tales that are often looking back, playing with memory, learning from experiences, sharing with other generations their experiences.
Selections from Spring 2006:
Charles Francis

As a wide-ranging professional photographer, Charles was involved with many interesting people and in many extraordinary events. His desire to share these has propelled an interest in writing. After retirement to the Bay Area in 1987, he has continuously honed his writing skills with classes at U.C. Berkeley and OLLI-SF State.
Miriam Phelan

Miriam Phelan is a second generation San Franciscan. In the writing classes she has taken at the Osher Center, she enjoys relating memoirs about her youth, her life, and her familys experience.
Previous Work:
Submissions from the Spring 2004 Memoir Writing Course with David Weir
Memoir Writing is a part of the OSHER LIFELONG LEARNING INSTITUTE curriculum. David Weir designed this session of Memoir Writing especially for boomers, with an eye on how to investigate your life. In this six week course, participants were given suggestions on how to approach their life story. While there was encouragement, there was no editing provided by the instructor.
When we made a call for submissions for creative material that had been worked on during the spring course, these people responded.
