Michael Ashburne

Michael Ashburne is an Oakland, California based entertainment attorney who has specialized in the representation of recording artists, record labels, producers, songwriters, and personal managers for 30 years. He has represented such diverse clients as Richard Pryor, Roberta Flack, Donny Hathaway, Ray Charles, Dead Kennedys, Brenda Russell, ecology activist Julia Butterfly Hill, and Ice Cube. Currently Mr. Ashburne represents Oakland-based producers Thomas McElroy and Denzil Foster, (founders of En Vogue), Dwayne Wiggins (member of Tony, Tone, Toni and producer for Destiny’s Child), MTV personality Sway, hip-hop artists Souls of Mischief and Del the Funky Homosapien, and Redwoods activist, Julia Butterfly Hill. In addition to his legal experience, Mr. Ashburne managed blues artist Taj Mahal for a number of years. Mr. Ashburne also serves at an expert trial witness on entertainment matters on a consulting basis.
