What resources are available to MSP students? Do you have a library? Do MSP students have access to other SF State resources?

The CEL Lab is a room with several PC and Macintosh computers, where hands-on course students have access to the hardware and software they need to practice the tools they are learning, and to work on class assignments or portfolio projects. The open lab also has two scanning stations, two audio suites for digital audio students, and digital video editing and digitizing stations for digital video students. Students may check out equipment and software manuals from the lab monitors. For lab hours, see the lab hours page.

SF State Library Students of the MSP have the same library privileges that regular SF State academic students receive at the J. Paul Leonard Library on the main campus. Please bring your photo ID and CEL ID card, and be sure to obtain a zebra sticker before you try to check out any books.

SF State Bookstore MSP students receive the same benefits and discounts as regular academic students do at the SF State bookstore. This includes discounts on software and hardware through the Computer Department. To receive discounts, just show the cashier your CEL Student ID card along with a photo ID when making purchases.

SF State Student Health Services MSP students also receive access to SF State Student Health Services on the main campus. For information about obtaining student health services, please call the Student Health Services Business Office at 415.338.1416.

What is the open lab use policy?

Students enrolled in "hands-on" production courses or courses marked are guaranteed a minimum of fifteen hours of lab time per hands-on course per semester. Hours above and beyond the allotted time are available on a first-come-first-served basis. Students who are not enrolled in any "hands-on" courses (only "lecture/demonstration" courses) may not use the lab. Classes marked "lecture/demonstration/lab" are an exception to this rule, and come with allotted lab time just as the "hands-on" courses do.

What are the open lab hours?

Please see the lab hours page.

Do I need a computer at home while enrolled at the MSP?

While not absolutely necessary, since we do have an open lab for students, having access to a computer at home would make certain hands-on work easier to accomplish. Students at the MSP qualify for the same discounts as full-time SF State students on computer hardware and software at the SF State bookstore.

Do you offer financial aid?

The MSP has a few options available for students who are seeking financial assistance. Please see the financial aid page for more information.
