NEXT GENERATION PARTNERSHIPS

It is INGI’s priority to apply the new technologies in education and training systems and more importantly to break down barriers between digital literacy for learning and underserved communities. With this goal, INGI develops curriculum integration and college access programs with youth media CBOs (i.e., Bay Area Video Coalition, Youth Radio, Youth Sounds). With this goal INGI developed Digital Pathways Program.

Pathways is an umbrella term representing a model of convergence for youth, education, workforce, and economic development. The model includes engaging successful youth development organizations in key sectors (Digital Media and Health Professions to start) with workforce investment dollars to bridge economic development priorities for regions. The Pathways model is currently being deployed in Oakland and San Francisco with funding from each of those Cities. In its current iteration, students will graduate from their Community Based Organization’s into SF STATE CEL Certificate Programs (Music Recording Industry, Digital Media, Community Health Workers) and prepare for matriculation into higher education and the workforce. The Youth For Service Grant will also help fund this model (Youth for Service, a San Francisco community based organization that provide alternative education for disadvantaged youth to achieve success).

Pathways is also serving as a model for activity in the network of Digital Sister Cities.
