About forty percent of Americans are currently using some form of complementary health therapies, and that number is growing annually. People want to feel better. They want to manage stress, increase energy, live naturally, and be healthier, so this growing trend comes as no surprise. Consumers and professionals alike are rapidly embracing more holistic approaches to health and wellness.
The Institute for Holistic Health Studies (IHHS) at San Francisco State University offers a comprehensive program in this important area. For over 30 years IHHS has approached health and healing from a holistic perspective, seeking to promote the wellbeing of the whole personthought, feeling, behavior, body, spirit, and environment.
Although our curriculum is diverse, the general goal of all our Holistic Health classes is the same: encouraging the individual toward increased self-awareness, a greater capacity for self-regulation, and an improved ability to generalize that understanding to all aspects of life, be that improved health, more meaningful work, deeper relationships, or transcendence.
