  1. What is my SF State Password?
To confirm, change, or create your SF State Password, visit SF State ID, SF State password, & login assistance.

  2. How can I get a refund for a class that I have already paid for? Can you credit my credit card?
Students must officially request refunds by the drop deadline by completing and signing a College of Extended Learning Add/Drop Form. The effective date of a refund is the day the request is received by Extended Learning. You can drop by phone by calling one of our registration staff members to drop your class at 415.405.7700. Refund checks are mailed to students approximately six to eight weeks after the drop form is received. According to CSU regulations, credit card accounts cannot be credited.

  3. If a class that I need to take is full, is there a waiting list?
Unfortunately at this time, we do not have waiting lists for full courses. You can call the registration staff at 415.405.7700 to check availability. If the course remains full, you may attempt to add the course by obtaining the instructors signature on a registration form. Decision to add additional students into a full course is made by the instructor.

  4. I only need to take a few more units until I get my degree. How can I do this?
Read about our Open University program. If you have not attended SF State as a matriculated student in the past two semesters, you are eligible to enroll in Open University. Open University enables students to take SF State courses without being formally admitted to the University.

  5. How long do I have to pay for my classes?
Fees are due as soon as students are registered. Due dates are calculated by adding five business days (excluding weekends and holidays) to the date of registration with the following exception: If registration takes place within five business days of the beginning of a course, fees are due the business day before a course begins. For example, a student who registers on Tuesday for a course that begins Saturday must pay fees by Friday. If a student registers for multiple courses with different due dates, total fees must be paid by the earliest due date.

  6. How do I get to the different campus locations?
Please see the Locations, Directions, Maps page.
