SF State Extended Learning Makes Resolutions Easier to Keep in the New Year

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - As thoughts turn to resolutions for 2008, many will consider pursuing a promotion at work or changing careers. San Francisco State University's College of Extended Learning has made it easier to keep those promises by offering engaging professional development options with flexible class schedules to suit a busy lifestyle, all in a convenient location in Downtown San Francisco.

“Resolutions are about making positive changes in your life, and that's we're all about,” said Gail Whitaker, Dean of the College of Extended Learning. “Our programs are designed for people who want to thrive and be fulfilled in their careers.”

Situated in a vibrant and non-traditional setting within the Westfield San Francisco Centre, the College of Extended Learning offers flexible course options in relevant, cutting-edge fields with online, weekend and evening classes. Inside the Centre are cafés, movie theatres, shops and restaurants, as well as BART and MUNI stations on the concourse level, making it more convenient for people from around the Bay Area to attend classes.

The College of Extended Learning offers over 30 professional development and certificate programs ranging from Graphic and Web Design, Computer Security, Digital Audio and Video Production, and Digital Animation to Clinical Trials/Biotechnology, Project Management, and Paralegal Studies.

Many students credit the course offerings for improving skills needed for new jobs, including Melinda Sundt, who is currently completing the Paralegal Studies program. "When I took the California State Exam for a position as an Investigator, there were many technical, job-related questions on it that directly related to my studies," said Sundt. "Those were things we had gone over in class and it definitely gave me an edge on the test."

Registration begins January 3, 2008 and runs through the entire semester. First classes start January 24th. For more information on San Francisco State University's College of Extended Learning, visit their website at www.cel.sfsu.edu.
